What causes dark circles under your eyes and how can you treat them? Dark circles under the eyes can be due to a number reasons. Did you know that dark circles under the eyes affect both men and women.

Dark circle under they eyes are due to lack of sleep, fatigue, stress, deficiency or some disease.

However, they can also be due to a hereditary condition and nasal congestion. Do you suffer from chronic atomic eczema on the skin? Another factor that may contribute to dark eye circles is ageing. If you suffer from eyelid swelling or eye puffiness this can produce light shadows under they eyes.

Here are some suggestions that may help treat dark circles under the eyes. Try one new remedy at a time for a minimum of fourteen consecutive days.

• Drink plenty of water, at least eight glasses a day. This also helps to flush out the toxins from your body.

• Where possible avoid eye strain, as squinting can lead to puffiness which in turn leads to dark circles under they eyes.

• Get a minimum of eight hours sleep a night, as sleep is important for cell regeneration and getting rid of the dark circles.

• If you are using and eye cream do not leave it on your skin for more than ten minutes.

• Take fifteen to twenty minutes to relax, close your eyes and place a slice of raw potato or cucumber over your eyes, after you have relaxed for about fifteen minutes remove the slices and wash with warm water and apply an eye cream or gel.

• Another option you could try is to make a 1:1 mixture of fresh potato and cumber juices. Soak some cotton wool pads and put on your eyelids and rest for twenty minutes. Wash your eyes with cold water.

• When you are doing your skincare routine morning and night apply a mixture of equal parts lemon and tomato juice on the dark circles.

• Another remedy you could try is making a paste of turmeric powder with pineapple juice and applying it to the affected area.

• Get some fresh mint, crush it and pat it on around the eye area.

• With your night time skincare routine massage a small amount of almond oil around the eye area, almond oils is nourishing to the skin and it will help to remove the darkness from under your eyes.

•  To reduce the darkness around the eye, rub the area with some powdered Vitamin E from a capsule and wipe off with a mixture of egg white and honey.

• Alternate putting hot and cold clothes alternatively under the eyes for ten minutes, then massage with almond oil before bed.
